Residence, E. Durham, NY
Alterations and Additions to an existing single family residence, a characteristically bland 'garrison, raised-ranch', set in a spectacular rural Catskills setting. The Design establishes an image for the house, of a traditional Greek Revival farmstead, complete with attached dependencies, and a new stable. The naturalistic imagery effectivelly 'deconstructs' as the rear of the building is approached, onto a private pond set within ample wooded acreage. The rear facade then is presented as containing a frankly 'modernist' fabric, and characteristic complete transparency directly engaging of the site. The Addition contains new formal and informal living spaces and kitchen, as well as a new master bedroom suite, and two additional bedrooms, and other support spaces.
